Let's Get Fit with HIIT
Why we LOVE HIIT Workouts
If you've never heard of HIIT Workouts, which stand for High Intensity Interval Training you are about to find out why we love them so much! We all know working out is good for you, not just to keep you looking sexy, but also for its endless health benefits. HIIT is a broad term for workouts that involve short periods of intense exercise alternated with recovery periods and my favorite part about it is the fact that you can get maximal results in minimal time! This enables you to achieve results in improved muscle tone, fat burning, strength building, endurance and cardio fitness all in less time than by other methods. Who knew, turns out less really is more.
Usually HIIT workouts can range between 10-30 minutes of total workout time. Let's talk about their main benefits:
It's efficient! the ideal workout for a busy schedule-whether you want to squeeze in a workout during your lunch break or to get in shape for a fast-approaching event. Research shows you can achieve more progress in a mere 15 minutes of interval training (done three times a week) than the girl jogging on the treadmill for an hour.
You'll burn more fat! Not only do you burn more calories during a HIIT workout, but the effect of all the intensity you hit your body with kicks your body's repair cycle into hyperdrive. That means you burn more fat and calories in the 24 hours after a HIIT workout! It's called the 'afterburn' baby!
You'll increase your metabolism! HIIT stimulates production of your human growth hormone (HGH) by up to 450 percent during the 24 hours after you finish your workout. This is great news since HGH is not only responsible for increased caloric burn but also slows down the aging process, making you younger both inside and out and let's face it, we all want to look as good as JLo! The woman is just a total CHICK (Confident Hip In Control Knockout)
YOU CAN DO IT ANYWHERE even if you don't have equipment, just use your own boy weight.
Now check out some of these workouts I've created and lets have some fun getting fit with HIIT! I've also featured some other sets of exercises that involve weight training because it's important to incorporate different workouts for the best results. Oh, and remember to NEVER do a HIIT session before weight training. Perform your weight training sets and then if you feel up to it, finish it off with a short HIIT circuit.
